Other Common Benign Lesions
Not part of the OK SPOT® acronym, but frequently seen and mistaken for other lesions
Dermatofibroma: A firm, small brown-to-black bump, usually on the legs, that dimples inward when pinched (the “dimple sign”). Harmless and very common, especially in women.
Dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN): Small, smooth, dark brown-to-black bumps on the cheeks and neck. Very common in skin of color — affecting up to a third of Black Americans — and often runs in families.
Lipoma: A soft, doughy, movable lump under the skin made of fat cells. Slow-growing and harmless, usually on the trunk, arms, or neck.
